The curriculum of the department emphasizes knowledge of both physiological and pathological aspects of the respiratory system, as well as professional practice. Courses include both basic concepts and clinical applications. The department offers an ideal environment with various clinical simulation laboratories, including the Critical Respiratory Care Lab, the Respiratory Monitor Lab for Infants and Children, and the Long-Term Respiratory Care Lab. Internships are done at hospitals with special emphasis on clinical practice. The department also works closely with the community, social service institutions, and nursing homes to train students’ skills in long-term care.

In order to develop diversified students, the curriculum is enriched with courses that can be integrated with the respiratory care field (such as rehabilitation, administration, and sleep medicine). The number of electives is gradually increasing every year to improve the well roundedness of the students’ professional learning. The four-year undergraduate program requires 133 credits for graduation.
